Created in 1963, the west side of Lake Gaston begins at Kerr Dam and ends on the east side at Gaston Dam. The lake, 200 feet above sea level, was created in 1963 by Dominion Generation to produce electrical power. The water levels remain fairly constant with a typical fluctuation of plus or minus six inches and are controlled by Dominion Generation.
